BIO

Intro
Herm is the product of a short-lived relationship in the late 70’s between Her and Him. He wrote his first song at the age of eight, about alcohol addiction…

The Hermanos
Several years later Herm got a band of like-minds together and they began gigging. Their early shows were energetic and raucous and earned comparisons with Tom Waits, Beck and The White Stripes among others. They have since played in venues across Ireland and gigs have been done solo, as a duo, a trio… anything up to six musicians on stage at one time. Highlights have included a seemingly never-ending set in the Gaiety Theatre and a surreal experience at 3 in the morning in the Spiegeltent…

The E.P.
In 2006 they released the Rosemary EP on Catchy Go Go records.
It consisted of four songs which spanned country, folk, rock and pop music. John Kelly said he liked it. And lots of other people played it.
Described as “in your face…catchy and splendid”, the EP has since sold out…

The Album
2007 was spent recording Herm’s debut album, ‘Monsters’. It was recorded over several months and in several abodes around Ireland and features guest vocalists Nina Hynes (on the gorgeous ‘Year Of The Horse’) and Michelle Considine (on the unhinged ‘Cellar Door’) along with various other Hermanos past and present. The variety of personnel added to the wide variety of sounds on offer and led to the choice of album title. In the words of Siri Hustvedt - “Monsters burst the categories. We recognize the forms…that have been twisted, contorted, elongated, or mingled together until we can’t say they’re one thing or the other”…

The End
The last few months have been spent getting back on the road with a new band of Hermanos and preparing for the album release. The Monsters will be released on Catchy Go Go Records with a launch in Crawdaddy, Dublin on March 20th…
